* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Southeastern Dare County in eastern North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 100 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1052 AM EDT, North Carolina Department of Transportation reported deep standing water along portions of NC 12 from Oregon Inlet to the Waves, Salvo, and Rodanthe areas. Water has been reported to be up to the headlights of some vehicles. Between 4 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Pea Island. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...The beaches from Cape Hatteras to Surf City. * WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through this evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most likely time for strong rip currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide, which will occur around 6:30 PM Tuesday.
