Flood Watch issued August 21 at 10:33PM EDT until August 22 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC

Issue date: 2026-08-22T02:33+00:00

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the following county, Anson. * WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall are expected today and possibly into tonight and early Saturday. A stalled front over the region will combine with anomalously moist conditions and very unstable air, supporting thunderstorms with intense rainfall rates of up to 3 inches per hour. These rates will support a risk of flash flooding. Rainfall totals of 2 to locally 5 inches are likely in the watch area through early Saturday. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
