In the first days of March, snow and ice are melting in the western and central regions of Latvia, river runoff is increasing. The water level continues to rise, river floodplains and low-lying areas are flooded. Several rivers are already ice-free, in other places the ice has already started to move, ice jams will form in places. BE AWARE of the potentially flood-prone areas! The environment is already overly humid, water is accumulating in the fields and in the lower depressions, low-lying areas on the banks of water bodies are flooded.
