ESFAFG ...Locations Impacted... Fortymile Country-Yukon Flats The National Weather Service and River Forecast Center have been monitoring the Yukon River breakup in the Yukon. Currently, tributaries of the Yukon River are breaking up and water levels upriver from Dawson are rising. The Fortymile River in Alaska and Klondike River in Canada have also broken up. Many smaller rivers are flowing high in the Yukon as well. In addition to this, warmer temperatures are causing snow to melt quicker which will lead to more water going into the river systems. The River Watch team will begin flying early this week which will give us more insight into the river ice conditions. Over the next several days, we should begin to see changes on the Yukon River towards the AlCan Border and will continue monitoring as we head further into breakup season.
