In east central New Mexico, Curry County and Roosevelt County. In southeast New Mexico, Chaves County Plains and Southwest Chaves County. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A swath of heavy rain over the past 24 hours from near Ruidoso through Roswell up to Clovis of 2 to 6 inches of rain will allow any new storm passing over this area to threaten flash flooding through today and this evening. - Rapid runoff and flash flooding will be most likely in complex terrain, below recent burn scars, low-lying areas, urban areas, normally dry arroyos, near rivers and streams, and in locations where the ground is already saturated from recent heavy rainfall. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

...The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in New Mexico... Rio Hondo Above Roswell affecting Chaves and Lincoln Counties. .Heavy Rain upstream of this point resulted in catastrophic flash flooding near Hondo. This has resulted in minor flood impacts along this reach of the river. Impacts downstream of the Two Rivers Reservoir will be minimized due to controls cutting off flows from the reservoir. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Rio Hondo above Roswell. * WHEN...From early this morning to this evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:20 AM MDT Friday the stage was 26.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 25.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 2:20 AM MDT Friday was 26.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage this morning and continue falling to 8.1 feet early Wednesday morning. - Flood stage is 26.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 26.4 feet on 06/18/1965. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
