For the High Surf Advisory, breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet with dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, until 5 AM PDT early this morning. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 5 PM PDT Tuesday. For the High Surf Advisory, until 5 PM PDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Moderate flooding of sea water is likely over some vulnerable low-lying coastal areas, especially around the time of high tide, including over beach parking lots, bike paths, and harbor walkways. Moderate to locally significant beach erosion is likely. Very localized damage possible to most vulnerable areas. There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of most concern are Avalon, Long Beach (Peninsula and Belmont Shore). While the surf will likely be smaller than Marie (from earlier this month), the lingering erosion effects enhance the vulnerabilities for locally more significant coastal flooding.
