Special Weather Statement issued December 26 at 8:15AM EST by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI

Issue date: 2025-12-26T13:15+00:00

A band of higher intensity mixed precipitation has developed north of the M-46 corridor. Up to 0.03" of freezing rain has been observed in this band, with sleet and snow also reportedly mixing in. A few rumbles of thunder have also been observed in this band on the west side of the state. A steady wintry mix is expected to continue over the next several hours, with localized ice accumulation rates briefly reaching 0.05" per hour and minor sleet/snow accumulations. Slick conditions are likely to develop, if they have not already, on untreated paved surfaces. This is especially true for elevated surfaces, such as bridges and overpasses. Use extreme caution when walking or driving this morning and allow extra travel time to reach your destination.
