Bozhou is located on the natural climate boundary between the Qinling Mountains and the Huaihe River, in the transition zone between the subtropical monsoon climate and the temperate monsoon climate. The monsoon has a significant impact, with four distinct seasons, moderate rainfall and sufficient sunlight. The average temperature in January is 0.6°C, and the extreme minimum temperature is -20.6°C (February 5, 1969). The average temperature in July was 27.3°C, and the extreme maximum temperature was 42.1°C (July 18, 1966). The average annual temperature is 14.7°C. The average annual precipitation is about 790 mm.
